: Moving time...
From a recent announcement in news I think it safer to infer that greatestjournal is about to die on us than not.
So: backing up this journal, to save all of your lovely comments, but also: I would like to move my katra to insanejournal. That is, rather than posting here and copying to there, I'll post there and copy to here.
Who on my f-list has an insanejournal? Or are you already elsewhere? Please comment here and tell me where you are!
All anonymous comments will be screened, so if you want to leave contact details in private just log out and post a comment. Actual changes will happen at the weekend: I don't believe this is we-have-just-hit-an-iceberg time, more let's-change-to-another-ship time.

Gah, what. We are trying to persuade Cambridge nJ users to move to GJ from LJ, a little bit every time LJ become more ridiculous so that the network ends up in at least one same place. They could have told us before we started moving over and we would have picked somewhere competent!

Suggest you go to IJ... ;-)
Seriously. The person who runs InsaneJournal does free and paid accounts, which suggests a bit more of a business plan than the greatestjournal one of doing everything via ads.
I have some issues with IJ, but more and more I'm thinking I do not want to try to log into GJ one morning and discover it's gone iceberg on me...

I'm bubusquared all over the place (LJ/GJ/JF/IJ) and once I get finished moving old entries and shit I'll be crossposting to all four of those from my WordPress blog. (Because clearly I don't believe there's such a thing as overkill, heh. :D) Once that's all setup I'll actually be checking my friendslist over there as well, which I'm not currently doing because the layout is driving me mad.

I thought the announcement itself had a bit of a hacked quality to it, but you're right about the service. I've just purchased a permanent account ("permanently insane", hee!) over at IJ, under this very same name. I'll take some time to port over things, and then see how long running parallel journals does the trick...

I think I have an IJ. The one that isn't accepting new accounts is the one I don't have - I think that's Journalfen. So yes. Probably. I shall have to look it out 'cause I haven't done anything with it other than nab my name.

Same name on IJ. I may well start posting as well as LJ, rather than here. (All three seems like overkill.)

We're already mutually friended on IJ, I think, and I post everything there as well as here; you will miss nothing by just reading me there from now on.
I'm afrai on IJ, though I haven't been using it. I mostly cross-post to GJ 'cos you're here; shall I start cross-posting at IJ instead?

It has multiple meanings (as I discovered when I googled) but the specific meaning I intended was derived from Star Trek. In ST:TSfS, Spock's katra, defined as his essence or being - evidently both memories and personality - is transferred from Spock, just before his death, to McCoy: it is transferred from McCoy to Spock at the end of the movie.
I meant that from thinking of GJ as my regular journal and IJ as my backup journal, I would begin the process of thinking of IJ as my regular journal and GJ as my backup.
